Maureen Weaver
Ms. Weaver is Chair of Wiggin and Dana's Executive Committee. She has served as a member of the firm's Executive Committee since 2002 and is a former Chair of the Health Care Department.
Ms. Weaver advises hospitals, provider networks, long-term care providers, nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living facilities, home health care agencies and other health care providers on regulatory, patient care, reimbursement, compliance, HIPAA and corporate matters. Ms. Weaver's practice includes the development of corporate compliance programs for health care providers, conducting audits to assess compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements and advising clients on reporting compliance issues to government authorities.
In addition to chairing the firm's Long-Term Care Practice Group, Ms. Weaver is counsel to the Connecticut Association of Not-for-profit Providers for the Aging (CANPFA) and Chair of the Legal Committee of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA). She is a co-author of The HIPAA Handbook: Implementing the Federal Privacy Rule in a Long-Term Care Setting, published by AAHSA.
Ms. Weaver is a member of the Board of Directors of the Association for Long Term Care Financial Managers and a member of the Executive Committees of the Health Law and Administrative Law sections of the Connecticut Bar Association. Ms Weaver is past President of the Connecticut Health Lawyers' Association. She is also a former Director of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association and of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut. Ms. Weaver is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the category of best health care lawyers and is a fellow of the Connecticut Bar Association.
Ms. Weaver graduated with an A.B. magna cum laude from Duke University in 1977, and received her law degree in 1986 from UCLA School of Law.
